Service Manager

Chinook Equipment in Nisku is seeking an experienced Service Manager to lead our team of experienced Technicians. The Service Manager will be responsible for the effective supervision of journeyman and apprentice Heavy Duty Technicians to ensure that quality standards and productivity requirements are met, while enhancing the overall customer service experience. Our Nisku branch offers a brand-new, state of the art shop with ample space which allows us to continue our success in the heavy construction equipment market.

 

We are looking for candidates that are experienced as a supervisor in off-road equipment, has superior customer service skills and is committed to growing the business. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise day to day operation of the service shop, manage the staff, monitor the completion of work and the quality of the job completion
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers, explaining repairs, billing and resolved complaints where required 
  • Manage and monitor work flow in the shop to maximize efficiency; checking progress of each repair order throughout the day
  • Maintain high-quality service repairs and minimizes comebacks through periodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality
  • Oversee safety in the shop area ensuring compliance with the safety program with emphasis on the appropriate use of PPE, safe use of tools, machinery and equipment including training on safety procedures, job hazards and the safety procedures
  • Manage recruitment, onboarding, training and performance management of employees while taking an active role in developing talent for the future
  • Maintain effective communication within the department and with other leaders in the dealership and Chinook Equipment enterprise; working together to identify opportunities and resolve issues
  • Be available for on-call service when needed


Experience & Requirements of our Ideal Candidate


  • Prior experience as a Service Manager or Shop Foreman in the off-road heavy equipment industry is required 
  • Red Seal Certification as a Heavy Duty Technician
  • Process-driven with the ability to hold themselves and team members accountable 
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills including the ability to use tact, sensitivity, empathy and professionalism when interacting with customers and employees
  • A team player committed to working with other departments to ensure goal alignment and achievement
  • Sound administrative skills with exceptional organizational skills
  • Proven leadership ability with a humble approach
  • A Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to pass a criminal record check and drug and alcohol screening
